ABOUT KENSINGTONVISION CIC

We first hit the FM airwaves on 1st December 2019, but our roots go all the way back to 2007 with three temporary community broadcasts, from a studio we built in the local Maccies. In 2010 we launched as an online station from our current studio on Holt Road.

KensingtonVision CIC was set up by a group of local residents to develop community radio work in Kensington.

After moving to  our current space in Holt Road, we developed six out of the seven shop units, opening a radio station, community cafe, a bike recycling project and a community bakery.

Unfortunately we have had to close the bike and bakery, but are in the process of developing a new building for all these projects (see a new vision for Kensington) on this site.

Since 2007 we brought in over a staggering £1 Million to the local economy, which has been spent in the local community. This has been through grants and work we have carried out over the last 17 years.

We’ve grown into a vital voice for our city — and our OFCOM licence has just been extended until October 2029, so we’re not going anywhere.

What Does Being OFCOM Licensed Mean?

It means we’re not just playing great music and sharing good stories — we’ve got a duty to deliver “social gain.” That means:

  • Supporting and transforming the lives of our volunteers

  • Boosting community communication

  • Creating opportunities, conversations, and positive change

  • Powered by the people
